How Do I Hang Drywall In My Home?

Here is a basic method for hanging drywall in a residential home....

The first thing to do when hanging dry wall is to measure the sheets. After determining a measurement, locate the seams (edges where sheets meet) where the drywall will be mounted. The seams that are tapered should meet when hung so that tape and mud will spread evenly. Also, drywall must be mounted ½ inch above the floor to prevent mold.

After making sure the drywall is level when you hang it. Screw the dry wall up with 1½ to 2 inch screws using a screw gun. When done, all screw-heads should be a turn past flush with the drywall to prevent appearing through the mud. After covered with mud, the drywall may need to be sanded down until smooth with the rest of the wall. Sometimes second applications of mud are needed, along with additional sandings.
